East Quoddy Lighthouse - in progress....

Today, after spending most of the night thinking about a different painting, when I got to the studio this morning, I decided to paint one of the lighthouses we saw on our trip along the northeast coast.  At the tip of Campobello Island, which is in Canada and was the summer home of Eleanor Roosevelt, there is a light house on a rocky island just offshore.  At low tide, a person can walk across the sand to the island, but when we were there the tide was high.

This is a photo of the progress I made today.  One more session and I should be able to finish it, except for the very fine lines that will connect the very top of the lighthouse to the bottom.  When the paint is dry, it will be much easier to paint the lines - and to correct them if they aren't right.

This is being painted on a Raymar Art panel - 8" x 16".  It is fun to paint on this longer format panel.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Be sure and stop by again to see the finished painting.
